Chart A-5, Cranks But Won't Run: Notes

With ignition on, ECM will activate fuel pump relay and operate fuel pump for 2 seconds. If ECM receives ignition reference pulses, fuel pump will continue to operate. If no ignition reference pulses are received, fuel pump will be turned off. The ECM is located below left side of instrument panel.

1. Fuel pump should operate for approximately 2 seconds with ignition on.
2. This checks for open circuit between fuel pump relay and ignition fuse.
3. This checks for open circuit or defective ECM fuel pump driver.
4. Installing jumper wire will verify if fuel pump and power circuit are okay.
5. This determines if ECM fuel pump driver circuit is defective.
