Engine Controls - Sensor Operating Range Charts: Introduction: Notes

Sensor operating range information can help determine if a sensor is out of calibration. An out-of-calibration sensor may not set a trouble code, but it may cause driveability problems.

NOTE: Unless stated otherwise in test procedure, perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance.

KNOCK SENSOR RESISTANCE

(1) Measure resistance between sensor terminal and engine block.
OXYGEN SENSOR HEATER RESISTANCE

THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS) RESISTANCE (GSi)

Condition Resistance (Ohms)
Between Terminals E2 & IDL (1)(2) Continuity
Between Terminals E2 & IDL (2)(3) No Continuity
(1) With .014" (.35 mm) feeler gauge installed between stop screw and lever.
(2) Terminal E2 is the top terminal (Brown wire) terminal. The IDL terminal is the second terminal (Blue wire) from the top of TPS.
(3) With .023" (.58 mm) feeler gauge installed between stop screw and lever.
