Code 51, Exhaust Gas RECIRCULATION (EGR) Circuit: Notes
EGR Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) solenoid is controlled by ECM. VSV solenoid is supplied with battery voltage through Fuel Injector (FI) relay. ECM completes ground circuit to energize VSV solenoid.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Checks circuit for a short to ground.
- Checks for voltage from Fuel Injection (FI) relay.
- Checks circuit for a short to ground or a faulty ECM.
- Checks for open in VSV circuit (Green wire).
- High resistance in solenoid can set Code 51.
