Disabling & Activating Air Bag System
WARNING:
Wait about 10 minutes after disabling SIR system before servicing. System maintains SIR system voltage for about 10 minutes. Servicing SIR system before 10 minutes may cause accidental air bag deployment and possible personal injury.
- To disable SIR system, Ensure front wheels face straight ahead. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove IGN fuse and CIG & RADIO fuse from junction block 1. See Fig 1 .
- Locate Yellow 2-pin connector at lower steering column. See Fig 2 . Disconnect Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and disconnect Yellow 2-pin connector. Wait approximately 10 minutes before servicing SIR components.
- To activate SIR system, turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect Yellow 2-pin connector and secure with Connector Position Assurance (CPA). See Fig 2 . Install IGN and CIG & RADIO fuses in junction block 1. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition switch to ON position and verify air bag indicator light glows steadily for about 6 seconds then turns off.
