Fast Idle Air Valve (Standard Emissions)
- Remove throttle body assembly from intake manifold. Separate upper and lower bodies. Place sensing portion of fast idle air valve in water. See Fig 1 .
- Heat water to 176°F (80°C). Ensure fast idle air valve fully closes. Fast idle air valve should be open when cool. Replace fast idle air valve if defective. Reassemble throttle body. Tighten screws to 31 INCH lbs. (3.5 N.m).
