Engine Controls - System/Component Tests: Introduction: Notes
NOTE:
Testing individual components does not isolate shorts or opens. Unless stated otherwise in test procedure, perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens.
CAUTION:
Transaxle Control Module (TCM) on 3-speed automatic transaxle is mounted behind dash, on left side of steering column. DO NOT
confuse this with ECM. ECM contains 26-pin and 16-pin connectors; TCM contains 10-pin and 14-pin connectors.
Before testing separate components or systems, perform procedures in BASIC TESTING article in this section. Since many computer-controlled and monitored components will set a diagnostic trouble code if they malfunction, it is also recommended that self-diagnostics be performed. See TESTS W/CODES article in this section.
