Manual Bleeding
- Using Tech 1, re-home ABS motors. See ABS MOTOR RE-HOMING PROCEDURE under BLEEDING PRECAUTIONS . Clean master cylinder cap and surrounding area, then remove cap. Fill master cylinder and install cap.
- Prime hydraulic modulator. Attach clear vinyl hose to rear bleed screw on hydraulic modulator. Place other end of hose in clean, transparent container. Partially fill container with clean brake fluid until end of hose is submerged in fluid.
- Open bleed screw 1/2-3/4 turn. Depress brake pedal and hold. Close bleed screw and release brake pedal. Repeat procedure until flow of brake fluid is clear and bubble free. Repeat procedure to bleed hydraulic modulator at front bleed screw. When fluid flows from both hydraulic modulator bleed screws, go to next step.
- Ensure master cylinder is full. Install clear vinyl hose onto first wheel bleed screw to be serviced. See BRAKE LINE BLEEDING SEQUENCE table. Place other end of hose in clean, transparent container. Partially fill container with clean brake fluid so end of hose is submerged in fluid. Open bleed screw and slowly depress brake pedal and hold.
- Close bleed screw, and release pedal. Wait 5 seconds. Repeat procedure including 5 second wait, until flow of brake fluid is clear and bubble free. Proceed to next bleed screw. See BRAKE LINE BLEEDING SEQUENCE table. Add brake fluid to master cylinder after bleeding all wheels.
- Bleed hydraulic modulator. Attach clear vinyl hose to rear bleed screw on hydraulic modulator. Place other end of hose in clean, transparent container. Partially fill container with clean brake fluid until end of hose is submerged in fluid.
- Open bleed screw 1/2-3/4 turn. Depress brake pedal and hold. Close bleed screw and release brake pedal. Wait 5 seconds. Repeat procedure including 5 second wait, until flow of brake fluid is clear and bubble free. Repeat procedure to bleed hydraulic modulator at front bleed screw. Check master cylinder reservoir fluid level.
