Diagnosis & Repair
- Connect scan tool to DLC. Start engine and allow to reach normal operating temperature. Select MAP sensor parameter on scan tool. If MAP sensor value is between 1.5 and 3.3 volts, go to next step. If value is not as specified, go to step 3).
- Select CLEAR INFORMATION function. Using scan tool, place vehicle into CHECK MODE. Operate vehicle within FREEZE FRAME conditions. If DTC P0106 resets, go to next step. If DTC P0106 does not reset, check for an intermittent problem. See TESTS W/O CODES article.
- Check for misrouted or leaking vacuum hoses. Check for restricted air intake or exhaust system. Repair as necessary. If no problems are found, go to next step.
- Disconnect MAP sensor harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between harness connector terminal No. 2 (Light Green/Red wire) and ground. If reading is 5 volts, replace MAP sensor. Retest system. If reading is not 5 volts, go to next step.
- Check MAP sensor input circuit (Light Green/Red wire) for open or short. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace PCM. Retestsystem.
