Clutches are single-disc type. A diaphragm spring is used to engage pressure plate. On Metro & Firefly (Canadian), clutch is mechanically controlled by the clutch pedal, clutch cable, return spring, release fork and release bearing. On Prizm, clutch is hydraulically operated by a clutch master cylinder and transaxle housing-mounted slave cylinder. On all models, a Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch is used to disable starter if clutch pedal is not fully depressed.
