System Testing

  1. Ensure engine is at operating temperature. Remove air cleaner cover and filter element. Disconnect the hose from the main air jet solenoid and install a vacuum pump to the solenoid valve. Start the engine and draw vacuum at idle. If no vacuum is present, go to step 3).
  2. If there is vacuum, check for voltage at main air jet solenoid valve. If there is no voltage, go to Trouble Shooting. If there is voltage, replace solenoid valve and retest.
  3. Disconnect vacuum hose number 2 from control box number 1. Apply vacuum. If vacuum remains steady, disconnect the vacuum gauge and reconnect air hoses and air cleaner. If there is vacuum, check for voltage at main air jet solenoid valve. If there is no voltage, go to Trouble Shooting. If there is voltage, replace the solenoid valve and retest.
