Code 17, Vehicle Speed Sensor

  1. Block rear wheels and set parking brake. Raise front of vehicle and support with stands. Connect system checker harness between ECU and connector. Turn ignition on.
  2. Slowly rotate left front wheel and measure voltage between terminals B16 (pos.) and A18 (neg.). If voltage pulses from 0-5 volts, proceed to step 5). If voltage does not pulse, turn ignition off.
  3. Disconnect connectors from ECU only, not from main harness. Turn ignition on. Slowly rotate left front wheel and measure voltage between terminals B16 (pos.) and A18 (neg.). If voltage pulses from 0-5 volts, substitute a known good ECU. If condition is rectified,replace original ECU.
  4. If voltage does not pulse from 0-5 volts, repair open or short in White/Blue wire between ECU terminal B16 and speed sensor or replace faulty speed sensor.
  5. Substitute a known good ECU. If condition is rectified, replace original ECU.
