PGM Tester Or OBD-II Scan Tool

Turn ignition off. Connect Honda PGM Tester or OBD-II scan tool to 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC). On Accord and Civic, DLC is located under instrument panel, near driver-side left kick panel. See Figure . On CR-V, DLC is located behind right side of center console. On Odyssey, DLC is located behind left side of center console. On Prelude, DLC is located behind access cover on right side of center console.

On all models, turn ignition on. If using Honda PGM Tester, follow tester prompts. Diagnostic trouble code testing is not needed. If using OBD-II scan tool, check for and record any DTCs displayed. If using either method, check for and record Freeze Frame Data, current data and any other PCM data. For scan tool operation, refer to manufacturer's instructions. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IDENTIFICATION  and proceed to appropriate DTC testing in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article.

CAUTION: DO NOT attempt any connection to 3-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) located near 2-pin service check connector.
