Steering Column Removal and Installation: Removal
- Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the radio, then write down the radio presets.
- Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
- Remove the driver's airbag (see DRIVER'S AIRBAG REPLACEMENT
).
- Remove the steering wheel (see
STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL
).
- Remove the cable reel (see CABLE REEL REPLACEMENT
).
- Remove the column covers (A).

- Remove the combination switch assembly (B) from the steering column shaft by disconnecting the connectors.
- Disconnect the ignition switch connectors.
- Disconnect the steering joint (C), and remove it from the column shaft.
- Remove the steering column (D) by removing the attaching nuts.
