Key Interlock Solenoid/Switch Test
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations , and the precautions and procedures in appropriate AIR BAG article under RESTRAINTS before performing repairs or service.
- Remove the steering lower cover (see Steering Column Removal & Installation ).
- Disconnect the key switch connector (7P) from the steering lock assembly.
- Check for continuity between the No. 5 and No. 7 terminals when the key is pushed, and check for no continuity when the key is released.
- Check that the key cannot be removed with power connected to the No. 7 terminal and ground connected to the No. 3 terminals.
- If the key cannot be removed, the key interlock solenoid is OK.
- If the key can be removed, replace the steering lock assembly (the key interlock solenoid is not available separately).
