Heated Air Induction System (Odyssey)
Heated air induction system improves fuel economy in cold weather conditions and when engine is cold. When ambient air temperature is low, air temperature control valve opens air valve to allow heated air into engine.
- Remove air cleaner. Check air valve operation. Blend door should not open to fresh air with wax element below 32°F (0°C). See Fig 1. If blend door is not open to fresh air, go to next step. If blend door is open to fresh air, check blend door control shaft for binding or sticking. If blend door control shaft is okay, replace air cleaner housing.
- Start engine and run at 3000 RPM with no loads and transmission in Park or Neutral until radiator fan comes on. Check air valve operation. Blend door should open to fresh air with wax element above 50°F (10°C). See Fig 1. If blend door is open to fresh air, air valve is okay. If blend door is not open to fresh air, check blend door control shaft for binding or sticking. If blend door control shaft is okay, replace air cleaner housing.
