Throttle Body: Insight

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove throttle link cover. Check throttle cable for binding or sticking. If cable operation is okay, go to next step. If cable binds or sticks, check cable routing. Reroute, replace and/or adjust cable as necessary and go to next step.
  2. Operate throttle lever by hand to check throttle valve and shaft for being overly tight or loose. Replace throttle body if there is excessive play in throttle valve shaft, or if there is binding in throttle valve when it is in fully closed position. If throttle valve and shaft are okay, go to next step.
  3. Check for clearance between throttle stop screw and throttle lever with throttle lever fully closed. If any clearance exists, replace throttle body. DO NOT adjust throttle stop screw.
