Starter Switch Signal: Prelude

  1. Place transaxle in Neutral or Park position (A/T) or depress clutch pedal (M/T). Turn ignition switch to START position. Backprobing, measure voltage between PCM connector "A" (32-pin connector) terminal No. 9 (Brown/Black wire) and PCM connector "C" (31-pin connector) terminal No. 6 (Blue/Red wire). See Figure and Figure . If battery voltage exists, starter switch signal is okay. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  2. Inspect No. 2 (7.5-amp) fuse in underdash fuse/relay box. See STARTER SIGNAL FUSE IDENTIFICATION  table. If fuse is okay, repair open circuit between underdash fuse/relay box and PCM connectors. If fuse is not okay, repair short in Blue/Red wire between underdash fuse/relay box and PCM or PGM-FI main relay connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Replace No. 2 (7.5-amp) fuse.
