Cruise Control Communication Circuit Test (A/T): Accord

  1. Start engine and test drive vehicle. Turn cruise control main switch on and test cruise control system operation. See appropriate CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If cruise control system operates properly, go to next step. If cruise control system does not operate properly, check cruise control unit or cruise control actuator. See appropriate CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM connector "A" (32-pin connector) and 14-pin cruise control unit connector. Check for continuity on Blue/Green wire between body ground and PCM connector "A" (32-pin connector) terminal No. 5. See Figure. If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, repair short in Blue/Green wire between cruise control unit and PCM connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  3. Turn ignition off. Reconnect PCM connector "A" (32-pin connector) and 14-pin cruise control unit connector. Turn ignition on. Backprobing, measure voltage on Blue/Green wire between body ground and 14-pin cruise control unit connector terminal No. 8. See Fig 1. If voltage reading is about one volt, go to next step. If voltage reading is not about one volt, replace cruise control unit. See appropriate CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.

  4. Backprobing, measure voltage on Blue/Green wire between body ground and PCM connector "A" (32-pin connector) terminal No. 5. See Figure. If voltage reading is about one volt, check for loose connectors at cruise control unit and PCM. If connectors are okay, replace PCM and retest. If voltage reading is not about one volt, repair open in Blue/Green wire between cruise control unit and PCM connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
