Key Interlock Solenoid/Switch Test
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations, and the precautions and procedures in appropriate AIR BAG article under RESTRAINTS.
- Remove the steering lower cover (see STEERING COLUMN REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate STEERING COLUMN article in STEERING).
- Disconnect the key switch connector (7P) from the steering lock assembly.
- Check for continuity between the terminals No. 5 and No. 7 when the key is pushed, and check for no continuity when the key is released.
- Check that the key cannot be removed with power connected to the terminal No. 7 and ground connected to the terminal No. 3.
- If the key cannot be removed, the key interlock solenoid is OK.
- If the key can be removed, replace the steering lock assembly (the key interlock solenoid is not available separately).
