Test B: Abs Indicator Does Not Go Off
- Check the ABS F/S RLY (20-amp) fuse in the auxiliary fuse box. Is the fuse okay? If yes, reinstall the fuse, and go to next step. If no, replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse is blown, check for a short to body ground in this fuse circuit. If the circuit is okay, replace the ABS modulator-control unit.
- Check the R/C MIRROR (7.5-amp) fuse in the driver's underdash fuse/relay box. Is the fuse okay? If yes, reinstall the fuse, and go to next step. If no, replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse is blown, check for a short to body ground in this fuse circuit. If the circuit is okay, replace the ABS modulator-control unit.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Disconnect the ABS control unit 31-pin connector.
- Measure the voltage between the ABS control unit 31-pin connector, terminal No. 18 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair open in the wire between the ABS F/S RLY (20-amp) fuse and the ABS control unit.
- Turn the ignition switch on.
- Measure the voltage between the ABS control unit 31-pin connector, terminal No. 15 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair open in the wire between the R/C MIRROR (7.5-amp) fuse and the ABS control unit.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Check for continuity between the ABS control unit 31-pin connector, terminal No. 19 and body ground. Is there continuity? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair open in the wire between the ABS control unit and body ground.
- Turn the ignition switch on.
- Connect the ABS control unit 31-pin connector, terminal No. 13 and body ground with a jumper wire. Does the ABS indicator go off ? If yes, check for loose terminals in the ABS control unit 31-pin connector. If necessary, substitute a known-good ABS modulator-control unit, and recheck. If no, go to next step.
- Remove the gauge assembly, and leave the connectors connected.
- Connect 14-pin gauge assembly connector "C", terminal No. 14 and body ground with a jumper wire. Does the ABS indicator go off? If yes, repair open in the wire between the gauge assembly and the ABS control unit. If no, check for loose gauge assembly connectors. If the connectors are okay, replace the gauge assembly.
