Exploded View: Installation
- Remove the old oil seal from the oil pump.
- Gently tap in the new oil seal until the special tool bottoms on the pump.
- Remove any old liquid gasket from the oil pump mating surfaces, bolts, and bolt holes.
- Clean and dry the oil pump mating surfaces.
- Install the oil pump (A).
- Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08718-0001 or 08718-0003, evenly to the block mating surface of the oil pump and to the inner threads of the bolt holes.NOTE: Do not install the parts if 4 minutes or more have elapsed since applying liquid gasket. Instead, reapply liquid gasket after removing the old residue.
- Grease the lip of the oil seal, and apply new engine oil to the new O-rings (B).
- Install the dowel pins (C), then align the inner rotor with the crankshaft and install the oil pump.
- Clean the excess grease off the crankshaft, and check the seal for distortion.
- Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08718-0001 or 08718-0003, evenly to the block mating surface of the oil pump and to the inner threads of the bolt holes.
- Install the oil screen (D).
- Install the oil pan (see OIL PAN INSTALLATION ).
- Install the VTEC solenoid valve and oil filter assembly (see VTEC SOLENOID VALVE TEST ).
- Install the timing belt drive pulley, then install the CKP sensor (see step 33 on CRANKSHAFT & PISTON INSTALLATION ).
- Install the idler pulley.
- Install the timing belt (see TIMING BELT INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the chain hoist.
- After assembly, wait at least 30 minutes before filling the engine with oil.
