Fuel Tank Replacement
- Relieve the fuel pressure (see FUEL PRESSURE RELIEVING
).
- Drain the fuel tank (see FUEL PRESSURE TEST
).
- Raise the vehicle, and support it with jackstands.
- Remove the exhaust muffler (see
EXHAUST PIPE AND MUFFLER REPLACEMENT
).
- Remove the propeller shaft (see
PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL
).
- Remove the fuel tank shield (A).

- Remove the canister cover (B).
- Disconnect the fuel vapor hose (C), and quick-connect fittings (D). Disconnect the filler neck hoses (E). Slide back the clamps, then twist the hoses as you pull to avoid damaging them.
- Place a jack or other support under the fuel tank (F).
- Remove the strap bolts (G).
- Remove the fuel tank. If it sticks to the undercoated mounts, carefully pry it off the mounts.
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
