NOTE:
Check for a blown No. 7 (15A) fuse in the underhood fuse/relay box. If it is blown, check for a faulty horn relay.
- Remove the steering column covers (see STEERING COLUMN REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ).
- Disconnect the dashboard wire harness B (5P) connector (A) from the cable reel (B).
- Connect the dashboard wire harness B (5P) connector terminal No. 1 to body ground with a jumper wire.
- If the horn sounds, go to step 4.
- If the horn doesn't sound, check these items:
- Horn (see HORN TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
- An open in the wire between under-hood fuse/relay box connector D (14P) connector terminal No. 1 and dashboard wire harness B (5P) connector.
- An open in the wire between under-hood fuse/relay box connector D (14P) connector terminal No. 2 and horn.
- Reconnect the dashboard wire harness B 5P connector (A).
- Remove the driver's airbag assembly (see DRIVER S AIRBAG REPLACEMENT ).
- Using a jumper wire, connect the horn switch positive 1P connector to ground.
- If the horn sounds, replace the horn switch plate.
- If the horn does not sound, replace the cable reel.
