ATF Temperature Sensor Test/Replacement
- Remove the drain plug (A), and drain the automatic transmission fluid (ATF).
- Reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer (B).
- Place a transmission jack under the transmission, and lift it up to create clearance between the transmission and front subframe.
- Disconnect the shift solenoid harness connector.
- Remove the shift solenoid valve cover (A), the gasket (B), and the dowel pins (C).
- Remove the shift solenoid harness connector.
- Measure the ATF temperature sensor resistance between shift solenoid harness connector terminals No. 6 and No. 7.
Standard: 50 Ω-25 kΩ
- If the resistance is out of standard, replace the ATF temperature sensor and shift solenoid harness; go to step 9. The ATF temperature sensor is not available separately from the shift solenoid harness.
If the measurement is within the standard, install the removed parts; go to step 12.
- Disconnect the connectors from the shift solenoid valves.
- Connect the shift solenoid valve D connector (YEL wire) (A) with the ATF temperature sensor (B) on the shift solenoid harness.
- Connect the shift solenoid valve A connector (BLU wire) (C), shift solenoid valve B connector (ORN wire) (D), shift solenoid valve C connector (GRN wire) (E), and shift solenoid valve E connector (RED wire) (F).
- Install the new O-ring (G) on the shift solenoid harness connector (H), and install the connector in the transmission housing.
- Install the shift solenoid valve cover, the dowel pins and a new gasket.
- Check the connector for rust, dirt, or oil, then connect the connector securely.
- Remove the transmission jack.
- Refill the transmission with ATF (see step 5 on ATF REPLACEMENT ).
