Fuel Tank Unit Removal/Installation

  1. Relieve the fuel pressure (see FUEL PRESSURE RELIEVING  ).
  2. Remove the fuel fill cap.
  3. Remove the rear tray (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR TRAY AREA ).
  4. Remove the left trunk side trim panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TRUNK AREA ).
  5. Remove the access panel (A) from the floor.

  6. Disconnect the fuel pump 5P connector (B).
  7. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting (C) from the fuel tank unit.
  8. Remove the fuel tank unit (A).

  9. Remove the fuel filter set (A), the fuel gauge sending unit (B), and the wire harness (C).

  10. Install the part in the reverse order of removal with a new base gasket (D) and new O-ring (E), new plate (F), new bracket (G), new spacer (H), new grommet (I), and new clip (J), then check these items:
    • Make sure the connection is secure and the suction filter (K) is firmly connected to the fuel pump (L).
    • When connecting the wire harness, make sure the connection is secure and the connectors (M) are firmly locked into place.
    • When installing the fuel gauge sending unit, make sure the connection is secure and the connector is firmly locked into place. Be careful not to bend or twist it excessively.
