BACKGROUND
The software controlling the IMA battery incorrectly maintains the battery and over time the battery can develop a memory effect that appears as a reduction in battery capacity. Additionally, DTC P0A7F (Battery Module Deterioration) may be stored.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
Owners of affected vehicles will receive a notification of this campaign.
Do an iN VIN status inquiry to make sure the vehicle is shown as eligible.
Some vehicles affected by this campaign may be in your used vehicle inventory. These vehicles must be repaired before they are sold.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Update the IMA battery control module software.
SOFTWARE INFORMATION
MVCI Control Module (CM) Update:
Application (FW) Version 3.01.40 or later
Database update 21-July-2014 or later
HDS Software Version:
3.015.006 or later
Before beginning the repair, make sure that both the HDS and MVCI are updated as listed above.
Do only the update listed in this service bulletin.
Check that the MVCI indicates the applicable program ID listed below (or a later program ID) as the Recommended Update when the update begins.
If the MVCI displays This vehicle does not need an update at this time during the update, the software for this service bulletin is already installed.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Connect the MVCI and check for the latest version of the IMA battery software.
- If the software is older than the listed software and no DTC is stored, go to step 2.
- If the software is older than the listed software and DTC P0A7F is stored, clear it, then go to step 2.
- If the vehicle has the latest software installed and DTC P0A7F is stored, replace the IMA battery module.
- Update the battery control module software with the MVCI. Refer to Service Bulletin 01-026 , Updating Control/Units Module .
- For California residents only:
Fill out a Vehicle Emissions Recall - Proof of Correction certificate, and use JK4 for CR-Z or JK5 for Insight as the recall number. Give the certificate to your customer, and advise him or her to keep it as proof that the product update was completed. Your customer will need to submit this certificate to the DMV only if the DMV requests it. If you need more certificates, use reorder number Y0657.
