Engine Removal and Installation: Installation
- Engine - Install
- First Universal Lifting Eyelet - Install
- Chain Hoist - Install
1. Attach the chain hoist (A) to the first universal lifting eyelet (B) and the transmission hanger (C), then lift the engine/transmission until it is securely supported by the chain hoist 2. Position the engine/transmission under the vehicle. Be sure that they are properly aligned. Carefully lower the vehicle until the engine/transmission are properly positioned in the engine compartment. Make sure the vehicle is not resting on any part of the engine/transmission. Support the engine/transmission with a chain hoist and carefully raise the engine/transmission into place.
NOTE: Reinstall the mounting bolts and support nuts in the sequence given in the following steps. Failure to follow this sequence may cause excessive noise and vibration, and reduce engine mount life.
- Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt and Nut - Loosely Install
M/T
CVT
- Second Universal Lifting Eyelet - Install
- Engine Support Hanger - Install
1. Install the engine support hanger onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook (A) to the slotted hole in the second universal lifting eyelet (B). Tighten the wing nut (C) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission. NOTE:
- Be careful when working around the windshield.
- Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.
- Engine - Support
1. Lift and support the engine with a jack and a wood block under the oil pan. - Chain Hoist, Engine Hanger Stay, and First Sub Hanger Stay - Remove
- Side Engine Mount - Install
1. Install the side engine mount (A) using new bolts (B) 2. Loosely install the new side engine mount bracket mounting nuts (C)
3. Install the ground cable (D).
- Engine Support Hanger, Second Universal Lifting Eyelet - Remove
1. Remove the engine support hanger and the second universal lifting eyelet 2. Remove the jack and the wood block.
- Vehicle - Lift
1. Raise the vehicle. - Front Subframe - Support
1. Support the front subframe with a transmission jack under the front subframe. - Front Subframe - Install
- Torque Rod - Loosely Install
M/T CVT
1. Install the torque rod, then loosely install the new torque rod mounting bolts. - Vehicle - Lift
1. Lower the vehicle. - Side Engine Mount Bracket Mounting Nut - Tighten
- Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt and Nut - Tighten
M/T
CVT
- Vehicle - Lift
1. Raise the vehicle. - Torque Rod Mounting Bolt - Tighten
1. Tighten the torque rod mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown. CVT

M/T
- Lower Radiator Hose - Connect
1. Connect the lower radiator hose (A) 2. CVT: Connect the water hose (B).
- A/C Compressor - Install
1. Install the A/C compressor (A) 2. Connect the connector (B).
- Front Inner Fender - Install
- Vehicle - Lift
1. Lower the vehicle. - Fuel Joint Pipe Bracket - Install
- Radiator Upper Hose - Connect
- Heater Hose - Connect
1. Connect the heater hoses (A). - Slave Cylinder - Install (M/T)
- Change Wire Bracket - Install (M/T)
- Shift Cable (Transmission Side) - Connect (CVT)
- Vehicle - Lift
1. Raise the vehicle. - Driveshaft - Install
- Tie-Rod End Ball Joint - Connect
- Stabilizer Link - Connect
- Lower Arm Ball Joint - Connect
- Under-Floor TWC - Install
- Engine Undercover - Install
- Front Wheel - Install
- Vehicle - Lift
1. Lower the vehicle. - Steering Joint - Connect
- Fuel Feed Hose - Connect
1. Connect the fuel feed hose (A) , then install the quick-connect fitting cover (B). 2. Install the bracket (C).
- EVAP Canister Purge Hose - Connect
1. Connect the EVAP canister purge hose (A). - Connector (Engine Wire Harness) - Connect
1. Connect the connectors (A) 2. Install the harness clamps (B).
- Air Cleaner - Install
- Air Intake Duct - Install
- Front Grille Cover - Install
- 12 Volt Battery - Install
NOTE: Do not connect the 12 Volt battery negative terminal.
- Positive Cable (12 Volt Battery Terminal Fuse Box) - Connect
- 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Connect
- Wiper Motor - Install
- Under-Cowl Panel - Install
- Fuel Leak - Inspect
1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel rail will be pressurized. Repeat this two or three times, then check for fuel leakage. - Transmission Fluid - Refill
1. Refill the transmission fluid: - Engine Oil - Refill
- Engine Coolant - Refill and Air Bleeding
- Fluid Leak (Low Pressure) - Check
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel rail will be pressurized. Repeat this two or three times, then check for fuel leakage. - Fuel Leak (High Pressure) - Check
1. Do the fuel line inspection, and check the fuel leakage at the high pressure fuel line . - Transmission Gear - Check
1. M/T: Check that the transmission shifts into all gears smoothly 2. CVT: Move the shift lever to each gear, and verify that the A/T gear position indicator follows the transmission range switch.
- PCM - Reset
- CKP Pattern - Clear/Learn
- Idle Speed - Inspect
- Ignition Timing - Inspect
- Wheel Alignment - Check
- VSA Sensor Neutral Position - Memorize (With VSA System)
