DTC P0106: General Description
The amount of intake air is adjusted by the opening angle of the throttle valve, and the pressure inside the intake manifold is measured with the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor. When the throttle valve is opened fully for quick acceleration, the intake manifold pressure suddenly drops to near atmospheric pressure, and the MAP sensor output reads near atmospheric pressure. The powertrain control module (PCM) compares the intake manifold internal pressure estimated from the output value of the MAP sensor (intake manifold inside pressure), the throttle position (TP) sensor, the barometric pressure (BARO) sensor output, and the engine speed. When the deviation is large (when it is in a malfunction area), the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
