DTC P170F: General Description
The park pawl actuator driver unit controls the park pawl actuator to switch to and unlock the P position. The park pawl actuator driver unit normally uses two lines (F-CAN A_H and F-CAN A_L) to receive switch/unlock commands for the P position and transmit/receive a feedback signal between the powertrain control module (PCM) and itself. If the communication cannot be done with the F-CAN, the communication is substituted by the PWM communication which has the switch/unlock communication line (PARKCMD) and the feedback signal communication line (PARKBUSY). The PCM and the park pawl actuator driver unit monitor the PWM communication, and if the park pawl actuator driver unit transmits/receives any signals via the PWM communication or the received signal is abnormal for a specified time, the PCM receives a malfunction from the park pawl actuator driver unit and stores a DTC.
