The park pawl actuator driver unit controls the park pawl actuator to switch to and unlock the P position. If the switch/unlock action to the P position has not been completed for a set time even the switch/unlock command to the P position is outputted from the park pawl actuator driver unit, the powertrain control module (PCM) receives a malfunction from the park pawl actuator driver unit and stores a DTC.
