DTC P05CC
DTC P05CC : Cold Start VTC System Malfunction
- Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .
- This DTC will be stored when the DC-DC converter output voltage is higher than the specified voltage (DC-DC converter failure).

DTC (PGM-FI)
- Electric powertrain system DTC check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-2. Select Electric Powertrain system, and clear the DTC with the HDS.
-3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
Enter the maintenance mode, then start the engine , and wait for 2 minutes under these conditions:
- Headlights on high beam
- Blower fan at maximum speed
- Rear window defogger on
- A/C switch ON, heater on, max hot
-5. Select Electric Powertrain system, and check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame P0A94 DC-DC Converter Performance DTC (Electric Powertrain)
Is DTC P0A94 indicated?
YES
Go to the troubleshooting for DTC P0A94 .
NO
Go to step 2.
- Problem verification
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-3. Let the engine cool until the value of ECT Sensor 1 is 77 deg.F (25 deg.C) or less.
Signal Current conditions Values Unit ECT Sensor 1 -4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
-5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-6. Enter the maintenance mode, then start the engine , and let it idle for 10 seconds or more.
-7. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P05CC with the HDS.
DTC Description OBD STATUS P05CC Cold Start VTC System Malfunction Does the HDS indicate FAILED?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 3.
NO
If the HDS indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the electric VTC motor and the PCM. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot .
- VTC actuator installation check
-1. Check the installation of the VTC actuator .
Is the VTC actuator installed correctly?
YES
Replace the electric VTC motor .
NO
Reinstall the VTC actuator, or replace it if it is worn or damaged .
