The shift by wire (SBW) shifter control module in the SBW shifter assembly detects the parking position by the output voltage from the park position sensor. The SBW shifter control module switches the ATP-P output to Hi/Lo according to the parking condition. The SBW shifter control module monitors the return signal of the ATP-P output. When there is difference between the return input value and the ATP-P output value for a specified duration, the powertrain control module (PCM) receives malfunction information from the SBW shifter control module and stores a DTC.
