Engine Removal and Installation: Installation

NOTE: 

  1. Engine Mount Bracket - Install

    1. Install the engine mount brackets and the accessory brackets, then tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

  2. Engine - Install

    1. Position the engine/transmission under the vehicle. Be sure that they are properly aligned. Carefully lower the vehicle until the engine/transmission are properly positioned in the engine compartment. Make sure the vehicle is not resting on any part of the engine/transmission. Support the engine/transmission with chain hoist (A) and carefully raise the engine/transmission into place.
  3. Upper Half of Side Engine Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt (Engine Side) - Loosely Install
  4. Engine Support Hanger - Install

    1. Install the engine hanger balance bar (VSB02C000041). Attach the front arm (A) to the front cylinder head with a commercially available spacer (B) and a 10 x 1.25 mm bolt (C). Attach the rear arm (D) to the rear cylinder head with a commercially available spacer (E) and an 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (F).

    2. Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook to the slotted hole in the engine hanger balance bar. Tighten the wing nut (G) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.

    NOTE: 

    • Be careful when working around the windshield.
    • AAR-T1256 two sets required for stacking additional cross section bars.
    • Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.
  5. Chain Hoist - Remove
  6. Vehicle - Lift
    1. Raise the vehicle.
  7. Front Subframe - Support
  8. Front Subframe - Install
  9. Transmission Mount - Loosely Install
  10. Transmission Ground Cable - Connect (Transmission Side)
  11. Connector (Front ACM Subharness) - Connect

  12. Vehicle - Lift
    1. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Rear Engine Mount and Rear Engine Mount Stop Mounting Bolt - Loosely Install

    1. Loosely install the rear engine mount mounting bolt (A), the rear engine mount stop (B), and the heat shield (C).

    2. Connect the connector (D).

  14. Engine Support Hanger and Engine Hanger Balance Bar - Remove

    NOTE:  After removing the engine support hanger, install the front damper caps.

  15. Front Bulkhead - Move
  16. Front Engine Mount and Front Engine Mount Stop Mounting Bolt - Loosely Install

    1. Loosely install the front engine mount mounting bolt (A) and the front engine mount stop (B).
  17. All Engine Mount Mounting Bolt and Nut - Tighten
  18. No. 6 Cylinder Ignition Coil - Install
  19. Connector Bracket and Harness Bracket - Install

    1. Install the connector bracket (A) to the front cylinder head.

    2. Install the harness bracket (B) to the rear cylinder head.

  20. Positive Cable - Connect

    1. Connect the positive cables (A).

    2. Install the harness clamp (B).

    3. Connect the connector (C).

    4. Install the connector clamp (D).

    5. Install the cover (E).

  21. A/C Compressor - Install
  22. Right Front Bulkhead Brace - Install
  23. Alternator - Install
  24. Radiator - Install
  25. Radiator Fan Shroud Assembly and A/C Condenser Fan Shroud Assembly - Install
  26. Heater Hose (Engine Side) - Connect

    1. Connect the heater hoses (A), and install the heater hoses to the clamp (B).
  27. Vehicle - Lift
    1. Raise the vehicle.
  28. Front Driveshaft - Install
  29. Lower Arm Ball Joint - Connect
  30. Lower Stabilizer Link Ball Joint - Connect
  31. Tie-Rod End Ball Joint - Connect
  32. Connector (EPS Motor/Control Unit) - Connect
  33. Under-Floor TWC/Exhaust Pipe A - Install
  34. Front Subframe Stiffener Plate - Install
  35. Undercover - Install
  36. Front Inner Fender - Install
  37. Front Wheel - Install
  38. Vehicle - Lift
    1. Lower the vehicle.
  39. Steering Joint - Connect
  40. EVAP Canister Purge Hose and Brake Booster Vacuum Hose - Connect

    1. Install the EVAP canister purge joint (A).

    2. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose (B) and the EVAP canister purge hose (C).

  41. Fuel Feed Hose (High Pressure Fuel Pump Side) - Connect
  42. Connector (PCM and Engine Wire Harness) - Connect

    1. Install the harness clamp (A).

    2. Connect the connectors (B).

    3. Install the cover (C).

  43. Intake Air Duct - Install 
  44. 12 Volt Battery - Install
  45. Engine Oil - Refill
  46. ATF - Refill
  47. Engine Coolant - Refill
  48. Fuel Leak - Check
  49. Air Cleaner, Air Intake Duct, and Air Guide - Install 
  50. Fluid Leak - Check
  51. PCM - Reset
  52. CKP Pattern - Clear/Learn
  53. Idle Speed - Inspect
  54. Ignition Timing - Inspect
  55. Front Bulkhead Cover - Install
  56. Engine Cover - Install
  57. Cowl Cover - Install
  58. Wheel Alignment - Check
  59. VSA Sensor Neutral Position - Memorize
