DTC P0106

DTC P0106  : MAP Sensor Range/Performance Problem

NOTE:

Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems .

P0106 MAP Sensor Range/Performance Problem      

DTC (PGM-FI)

  1. Parts condition check

    -1. Check for poor connections or damage to these parts:

    • PCV hose
    • Purge (PCS) line
    • Air cleaner
    • Intake air duct
    • Intake manifold
    • Throttle body

    Are the parts OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Repair or replace the damaged part (s).

  2. MAP sensor visual check

    -1. Remove the MAP sensor.

    - 2. Check the MAP sensor port for clogging or restrictions (foreign material, carbon or sludge, etc).

    Is the MAP sensor port clogged or restricted?

    YES 

    Remove the clog or restriction from the MAP sensor.

    NO 

    Reinstall the MAP sensor , then go to step 3.

  3. Problem verification 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    - 3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    P0106 MAP Sensor Range/Performance Problem      

    Is DTC P0106 indicated?

    YES 

    Replace the MAP sensor .

    NO 

    Go to step 4.

  4. Problem verification 2

    -1. Start the engine.

    - 2. Hold the engine speed at 3, 000 rpm without load (in P or N) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.

    - 3. Test-drive under these conditions:

    • Engine coolant temperature (ECT SENSOR 1) above 158 °F (70 °C)
    • Transmission in D
    • Vary the engine speed between 1, 000-5, 500 rpm, and drive the vehicle at around 40 mph (60 km/h) for 5 seconds

    - 4. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0106 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

    DTC (PGM-FI)

    Does the HDS indicate FAILED?

    YES 

    Replace the MAP sensor .

    NO 

    If the HDS indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems . If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to step 4-3 and recheck.
