Powertrain Control Module (Pcm): Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Before installing PCM, ensure there is no debris in air filter/PCM housing assembly or in MAF/IAT sensor inlet screen, which may distort air flow. Ensure there are no signs of damage to air filter/PCM housing assembly, or to intake air duct. If a problem is found, replace component as necessary.
NOTE: If PCM is being programmed using Off-Board method, perform programming before continuing with PCM installation.
  1. Install PCM. Install PCM connectors. Tighten PCM connector screws to 71 INCH Lbs. (8 N.m). Install intake air duct, MAF/IAT sensor, and air filter housing cover to throttle body.
  2. Ensure intake air duct is installed properly on throttle body. An improperly installed or distorted damaged air filter, or intake air duct may cause a DTC to set. Align and engage tabs on air filter housing cover with slots in air filter/PCM housing.
  3. Tighten air filter housing cover screws to 35 INCH Lbs. (4 N.m). Tighten intake air duct clamp at throttle body. Reconnect MAF/IAT sensor connector. Connect negative battery cable. Install rear seat cushion.
  4. Program replacement PCM. SeePOWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE  under PROGRAMMING.
