Removal Procedure
- Remove the engine shield, if equipped. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .
- Disconnect the rack and pinion outer tie rod ends from the steering knuckles. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .
- Remove as much power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
- Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
- Disconnect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose from the steering gear. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement .
- Disconnect the lower intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear. Refer to Lower Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .
- Remove the vertical steering gear nut, washer and bolt.
Left hand drive shown, right hand drive similar.
- Remove the horizontal steering gear nut, washer and bolt.
Left hand drive shown, right hand drive similar.
- Remove the steering gear bracket bolts and bracket.
- Remove the steering gear from the vehicle.
