Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine shield, if equipped. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the rack and pinion outer tie rod ends from the steering knuckles. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .
  3. Remove as much power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
  4. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.

  6. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose from the steering gear. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement .
  7. Disconnect the lower intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear. Refer to Lower Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .

  9. Remove the vertical steering gear nut, washer and bolt.

    Left hand drive shown, right hand drive similar.

  11. Remove the horizontal steering gear nut, washer and bolt.

    Left hand drive shown, right hand drive similar.

  12. Remove the steering gear bracket bolts and bracket.
  13. Remove the steering gear from the vehicle.
