Installation Procedure

    Fig 1: View Of Fuel Injector, Clip & O-Rings

  1. Lightly lubricate the new lower fuel injector O-ring seals (4) with mineral oil GM P/N 9981704.
  2. Install the NEW O-ring seals (4) on the spray tip end of each fuel injector (3).

  4. Position the fuel rail to the cylinder head, inserting the spray tip ends of the fuel injectors.
  5. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  6. Install the fuel rail bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  8. Connect the fuel injector harness connector (2) to the engine wiring harness electrical connector.
  9. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .

  11. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service  in order to connect the EVAP purge hose (1) to the following:
    • The throttle control module (2)
    • The EVAP canister purge solenoid valve (3)

  13. Connect the fuel feed line to the fuel rail. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  14. Engage the fuel feed quick connect locking clip (1).
  15. Inspect for leaks.
    1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
