Throttle Position Sensor

  1. Disconnect throttle position sensor connector. On 1.5L and 2.4L engines, check resistance between terminals No. 1 (Brown wire) and No. 3 (Green/Red wire). See Fig 1 . On 3.0L engines, check resistance between terminals No. 2 (Brown wire) and No. 3 (Green/Yellow wire). Resistance should be 3500-6500.
  2. On 1.5L and 2.4L engines, attach ohmmeter between terminals No. 1 (Brown wire) and No. 2 (Light Green/Yellow wire). On 3.0L engines, No. 2 (Brown wire) and No. 4 (Light Green/Yellow wire). Operate throttle valve from closed to wide open throttle. Ensure resistance changes smoothly throughout entire range. Resistance should change from 500 ohms to approximately 3500-6500 ohms. If not within specification, replace TPS.
