Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

  1. With ignition off, connect Test Harness (09351-33000) between TPS and harness connector. Connect a digital voltmeter between both terminals of test harness leads.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off. Check TPS voltage. If reading is not .48-.52 volt, loosen throttle cable. Loosen TPS mounting screws. Turn TPS clockwise (increase) or counterclockwise (decrease) until correct voltage is obtained.
  3. After adjustment, tighten TPS screw to 13-22 INCH lbs. (1.5-2.5 N.m).
  4. Turn ignition off, and disconnect digital voltmeter. Tighten throttle cable. Disconnect vehicle battery for at least 15 seconds to erase diagnostic memory. Reconnect battery. Start engine and check idle speed.
