SFI Control Relay

  1. Relay is located behind driver's dash panel, near ECM. Disconnect harness connector. Removal of relay may assist in testing. Apply battery voltage to terminal No. 4 (positive) and ground terminal No. 2 (negative). See Fig 1 .
  2. Using a DVOM, check for continuity between terminal No. 1 and terminal No. 5. Continuity should exist. Check for continuity between terminal No. 5 and terminal No. 3. Replace relay if continuity does not exist.

  3. Disconnect relay harness connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between relay harness connector terminals No. 4 and 5 (White/Blue wires) and vehicle ground. If battery voltage is not present, inspect and repair circuit.
  4. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. Connect jumper wire between ECM harness connector terminal No. 42 (terminal No. 36 on Scoupe) and vehicle ground. See Figure . Using ohmmeter, check resistance between relay harness connector terminal No. 2 (Black/Blue wire on Accent; Black/Green wire on Scoupe) and vehicle ground. If continuity does not exist, inspect and repair circuit as needed.
