Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes

- Before entering on-board diagnostics, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Turn ignition off. Locate Data Link Connector (DLC) under left side of instrument panel, and connect scan tool. See Fig 1 .
- Operate scan tool according to manufacturer's instructions. Read and record scan tool self-diagnostic output (stored codes). See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) DEFINITIONS . To perform testing for retrieved codes, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article.
