Sonata (2.4L)

  1. Remove ECM control relay which is mounted to right side of instrument panel center support, under radio. Using a fused jumper wire, apply battery voltage to relay terminal No. 8. Using another jumper wire, ground relay terminal No. 6. See Figure.
  2. With relay energized, check for continuity between relay terminals No. 2 and 4. Continuity should exist until voltage is disconnected. If continuity exists, go to next step. Replace relay if continuity does not exist.
  3. Using a fused jumper wire, apply battery voltage to relay terminal No. 7. Using another jumper wire, ground relay terminal No. 5. When relay is energized, check for continuity between relay terminals No. 1 and 7. Continuity should exist until voltage is disconnected. Replace relay if continuity does not exist.
