Fuel Injector Inspection

  1. Warm up engine and let idle. Using screwdriver or stethoscope, listen to each injector. Clicking sound should be heard. If no sound is heard, measure resistance of suspected fuel injector. See FUEL INJECTOR RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS  table. Replace injectors that do not meet specification. To replace fuel injectors, see appropriate FUEL DELIVERY PIPE & FUEL INJECTORS under FUEL SYSTEM in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. If injectors are okay and no operational sound is heard, go to next step.
  2. Check wiring to injectors for open or short, repair as necessary. Ensure electrical connectors fit tightly and are not corroded. For circuit testing, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
