Test Procedure

NOTE: After the engine starts up, the charging current quickly drops. Therefore, this test must be done quickly to read the maximum current value correctly.
  1. Ensure voltmeter reads the same value as the battery voltage. If the voltmeter reads 0 volt, repair open circuit between the generator harness connector terminal "B" and battery, replace blown fusible link or repair poor ground as necessary.
  2. Start the engine and turn on the head lights.
  3. Set the head lights to high beam and the heater blower switch to HIGH position, quickly increase the engine speed to 2500 RPM and read the maximum output current value indicated on the ammeter.
