Pull-In Test
Disconnect field coil wire from starter solenoid terminal "M". Connect 12 volt battery between starter solenoid terminals "S" and "M". See Fig 1 . Solenoid plunger should pull in, extending pinion drive. If pinion drive moves outward, pull-in coil is good. If pinion drive does not move outward, replace solenoid. See OVERHAUL .
