Return Test

Disconnect field coil wire from starter solenoid terminal "M". Apply battery voltage to starter solenoid terminal "M" and ground starter case. See Fig 1 . Manually pull out pinion drive and then release it. Pinion drive should return quickly to original position. If pinion drive does not return to original position, replace solenoid. See OVERHAUL  .
