Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor
NOTE:
On Santa Fe 2.7L and Sonata 2.7L engines, IAT sensor is located in intake air hose. On Santa Fe 2.4L and 3.5L, Sonata 2.4L, and XG350 engines, IAT sensor and Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor are combined into the same assembly and share a 5-pin connector. On Accent 1.6L and Elantra engines, IAT sensor and Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor are combined into the same assembly and share a 4-pin connector.
NOTE:
Manufacturer does not give IAT sensor resistance or voltage specifications for Santa Fe 2.4L and 3.5L, Sonata 2.4L, or XG350. Voltage specification for Sonata 2.7L and Tiburon 2.7L is not available from manufacturer.
- On Santa Fe 2.7L, Sonata 2.7L, and Tiburon 2.7L, backprobe and measure voltage between IAT sensor connector terminals. See ENGINE PERFORMANCE in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. Compare voltage with expected value. See IAT SENSOR TEMPERATURE-TO-VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS table.
- On Accent 1.6L and Elantra, disconnect MAP sensor connector and measure resistance between MAP sensor connector terminals No. 3 and 4. On Sonata 2.7L, disconnect IAT sensor connector and measure resistance between IAT sensor connector terminals. On Tiburon 2.0L, disconnect IAT sensor connector and measure resistance between IAT sensor connector terminals No. 1 and 2. See ENGINE PERFORMANCE in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
