Inspection Procedures

  1. CHECK DTC RELATING TO CCV
    1. Connect a Hi-Scan (Pro) to the data link connector.
    2. Turn ignition switch to ON position and monitor any other DTCs.

    Are any other DTCs also set? 

    No: Go to next

    Yes: Do all repairs associated with those codes.

  2. CHECK CANISTER AIR-FILTER FOR CONTAMINATION
    1. Disassemble the Canister Air-Filter and hose from their respective positions.
    2. Check the Canister air-filter.

    Is Canister Air-Filter contaminated with dust? 

    No: Go to next

    Yes: Replace it.

  3. CHECK CCV FOR NORMAL OPERATION
    1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and disconnect the hose connecting the CCV to the canister.
    2. Blow air into the hose and verify that air escapes normally.
    3. Turn ignition switch to ON position and jump a wire to chassis ground at the CCV control terminal.
    4. Blow air into the hose and verify that air does not escape from the port.
    5. Repeat this procedure 4 or 5 times to ensure CCV reliability.

      Is CCV working properly? 

    Yes: Proceed with ECM PROBLEM PROCEDURE  .

    No: Replace it.
