System Inspection

Check air leakage 

  1. Check for contamination and installation of Gaskets.
    • Check throttle body gasket.
    • Check gasket between intake manifold and surge tank.
    • Check for contamination or restrictions by foreign material between intake manifold and injectors.
    • Check for contamination or foreign materials between surge tank and PCSV.
  2. Is there any air leakage?

    YES 

    NO 

    • Go to "Check exhaust system for Restrictions" as follows.

Check exhaust system for Restrictions 

  1. Check exhaust system for:
    • Restricted or broken muffler.
    • Damaged catalyst.
  2. Is the exhaust system restricted?

    YES 

    NO 

    • Go to "Check throttle valve for binding" as follows.

Check throttle valve for binding 

  1. IG "OFF".
  2. Remove air hose between throttle body and airflow sensor.
  3. Check if throttle valve is stuck or binding by objects or carbon deposits.
  4. Is the throttle valve operating correctly?

    YES 

    NO 

    • After removing foreign material, check throttle valve operation. If replacing TPS and ETC throttle assembly; Do "Procedure of ETC Initialization". Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair ".

Procedure of ETS Initialization

  1. Erase DTCs on PCM.
  2. Turn the ignition key off until the main relay is turned off. (It will take 10 sec.)
  3. Turn ignition key on for more than 1 second to record the throttle motor position on the EEPROM.
