Repair Procedures: Removal
- Carefully install the clamp not to damage the hose.
- Install the clamp in a correct direction not to be interfered with other parts.
- After the installation, start the engine and then check if there are any leakages from the hose.
- Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the air duct and the air cleaner assembly.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")
- Remove the battery and battery tray.
(Refer to Engine Electrical System - Removal - "BATTERY TRAY ")
- Disconnect the main connector (A), electronic shift actuator connector (B) and position sensor connector (C).
- Remove the bolt (A) and then separate the wiring (B).
- Loosen the bolt (A) and then separate the wiring (B).
- Remove the ground line (A).
- Separate the ATF cooler hose (A).
- Remove the CKP sensor (A) after loosening the bolt.
- Remove the transaxle upper mounting bolts (A, B).
Tightening torque:
- 32.4 - 49.0 N.m (3.3 - 5.0 kgf.m, 23.9 - 36.2 lb.ft)
- 63.7 - 83.4 N.m (6.5 - 8.5 kgf.m, 47.0 - 61.5 lb.ft)
- Assemble the engine support fixture use a (Beam SST No.: 09200 - 3N000, Supporter SST No.: 09200-2S000, Adaptor SST No.: 09200-2W000).
- Using the engine support fixture, hold the engine and transaxle assembly safely.
- Remove the cover (A).
- Remove the transaxle mounting bracket bolts (A).
Tightening torque:
107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb.ft)
- Loosen the transaxle support bracket mounting bolts and then removing the transaxle support bracket (A).
Tightening torque:
58.9 - 78.5 N.m (6.0 - 8.0 kgf.m, 43.4 - 57.9 lb.ft)
- Remove the under cover.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
- Remove the sub frame.
(Refer to Suspension System - "SUB FRAME ")
- Remove the driveshaft assembly.
(Refer to Driveshaft and Axle - "FRONT DRIVESHAFT ")
- In case of 4WD vehicle, remove the transfer assembly.
(Refer to 4 Wheel Drive System - "TRANSFER ASSEMBLY ")
- Disconnect the EOP (Electronic Oil Pump) connector (A).
- Remove the dust cover (A).
Tightening torque:
39.2 - 46.1 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 28.9 - 33.9 lb.ft)
- Remove the torque converter mounting bolts (A) by rotating the crankshaft.
Tightening torque:
45.1 - 52.0 N.m (4.6 - 5.3 kgf.m, 33.3 - 38.3 lb.ft)
- Remove the roll rod support bracket (A).
Tightening torque:
49.0 - 68.6 N.m (5.0 - 7.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 50.6 lb.ft)
- Support the transaxle safely with a jack.
- Remove the starter mounting bolts (A).
Tightening torque:
49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb.ft)
- Loosen the transaxle lower mounting bolts (A, B).
Tightening torque:
- 39.2 - 46.1 N.m (4.0 - 4.7 kgf.m, 28.9 - 34.0 lb.ft)
- 78.5 - 98.1 N.m (8.0 - 10.0 kgf.m, 57.9 - 72.3 lb.ft)
- After separating the transaxle from the engine, remove the transaxle by lowering the jack slowly.NOTE:
- Be careful not to damage other nearby systems or parts when removing the transaxle assembly.
